Disney Confessions

If you have been following me on Twitter or Pinterest, you would know just how much of a Disney fan I am. Here are just a few of my Disney confessions:

1. Dreams of Imagineering

Growing up, I always wanted to work for Disney. At a young age I was inspired by Walt Disney's classic and timeless storytelling. As I got older, I decided that I wanted to be an Imagineer and become an animative engineer. I loved animation, but making it come to life in the form of animatronics fascinated me. Unfortunately, my dream of becoming an Imagineer was never fulfilled, but I am incredibly happy with the career path I'm currently on.

2. Meeting Ariel

My first time meeting Ariel (my favorite princess) was when I was 18 years old. I was so excited, and unprepared, that I started having a mini panic attack... I was thoroughly embarrassed at first, but now I find it hilarious.

3. I'm a Bit of a Scaredy Cat

Despite the numerous amount of times I have been to Disneyland and California Adventure, there were several rides that took me years to finally go on, some out of choice, some not.

I didn't ride Pirates of the Caribbean until I was 11, and I didn't ride the Haunted Mansion until I was 12. I didn't like dark rides and multiple people told me they were "scary" rides. I was pretty gullible back then...

I also was terrified of looped roller coasters--let me rephrase that, I AM terrified of looped roller coasters.

On my 21st birthday, my hubby, my best friend, and her husband persuaded me to go onto (aka dragged me onto) California Screamin.' But honestly, I liked it after the first ride and loved it after the second.

The first picture is my first time on California Screamin'. That's me in the front on the left. The sun blocks my scared expression. The second picture is from our last day before our passes expired.

4. Best Birthday Ever!

Back when my husband and I were dating, our "six-month anniversary" landed on my 21st birthday. I put together a small surprise to drop off at his work that day because he said he was already scheduled to work. My best friend, Katie, made plans with me to take me to Universal's Boardwalk. When I opened the front door in the morning, Nathan was standing there instead of Katie, and he surprised me with a trip to Disneyland! It had been two years since I had been and I was so excited! On the drive over was the biggest surprise though, he had gotten us both Annual Passes! That was by far the best birthday gift ever.

5. No Disney In My Wedding

Despite my absolute love (and obsession) for all things Disney, I made it very clear that I did not want a Disney proposal or wedding. In my final years of college, it seemed like everyone was getting engaged, and not only that, but their boyfriends were all proposing to them at Disneyland. The majority of these proposals took place on Main Street during the fireworks. I didn't want to be part of a cliche. As for the wedding, I didn't want to be remembered as the Disney girl. Everyone already knows me as the Disney girl, they don't need to identify every aspect of my life as Disney related.

But don't worry fellow Disney fans, my bridal shower was Disney Princess themed, half of my bachelorette party took place at Downtown Disney, and Nathan and I wore Minnie and Mickey bride and groom ears to our dress rehearsal.
